Another National Holiday!

Yesterday was Kenyatta Day. Whoo hoo. Wednesday night I tried out a yoga class at the nearby Holiday Inn at the recommendations of a friend. It was insane! The teacher is this middle-aged, bearded, motorcycle-driving Indian guy who really throws you right in to the challenging stuff. Most of our class was spend on our heads doing head or handstands. That night I got another workout by dancing the night away. The stiffness and pain from these little exercise sessions didn't actually show up until today. That was good because Thursday was a full day as well.
On Thursday after not enough sleep I woke and head off to do a hike at Gatamayu Forest in the Aberdares National Park (about an hour north of Nairobi). We were a little delayed in getting there. And when I say a little delayed, I mean we got lost about 10 times. There were some tense moments when our directionally-challenged navigator almost got himself punched in the head a few times! But we finally arrived and it was really beautiful, sunny and lush. We hiked down some muddy slopes to the falls and then along the river. Other than some stinging nettles that burned a little it was a nice hike. I'm happy to say that we DIDN'T see any elephants (despite the steaming piles of evidence that they were in the vicinity) because although you wouldn't think it - they are very dangerous animals if you don't have a car around you to protect you from them.
Having a Thursday off was strange. I went to work today and kept thinking that it was Monday. Tomorrow and Sunday are going to seem like such a bonus!!
